•Remove current state restrictions on a community's ability to create charter schools.
•Encourage innovation, such as year-round school and longer school days if a community chooses.
•Demand and reward excellence in teaching.
•Make it easier for retirees and other professionals to choose teaching as a second career.

Safe Communities

 

•Eliminate parole for violent criminals and impose tougher sentences on serious offenders in order to keep them off our streets and in prison.
•Advance the concept of judge-supervised treatment programs so that we address the underlying problem of drug addiction that drives so much of our crime.
•Attack juvenile truancy that leads to serious criminal activity.
